Entering a Competition

Enter one of your games with a saved table setup, keep it up to date until entries close, and manage publisher contact.

Entering a Competition

You enter a competition with one of your saved table setups. That setup is what everyone plays, from community members to the judges.

Before you start

You need a project with at least one saved setup. If you have not made one yet, open the project in the playtest room, lay out the table the way players should find it, and save it as a setup. See Setups.

Check the competition page for the Rules and How to enter sections, and the Entries close time under the entry button.

Entering

  1. Open the competition and click Enter a game. If you are signed out, the button says Sign in to enter.
  2. Pick the setup people should play. Setups are grouped by project.
  3. Add an Entry description if you like. Leave it blank to use your project's short description.
  4. Tick Publishers may contact me about this game if you would like publishers to be able to reach you (more below).
  5. Confirm you understand how your entry is shared, then click Submit entry.

A few rules apply:

  • The organizer sets how many games each person can enter.
  • Each game can be entered once. A second setup from the same project counts as the same game.
  • Organizers and judges cannot enter their own competition.

What is shared

Your game's name, description, image, player count and play time appear on the competition page, and signed-in members can open a table of your entry to play it. Your original setup and project stay private, and nobody else can edit them. Entering does not give the organizer or any publisher rights to your game.

Your entry is a copy

When you enter, the competition keeps its own copy of your setup exactly as it is at that moment. Editing your setup afterwards does not change the entry.

Until entries close you can replace the copy with your setup's current state: open your entry and click Update from my setup. Each update raises the entry's version number. Once entries close, that version is final and it is the one that gets played and judged.

You can also edit the Entry description until entries close.

After entries close

Changes you make to the game after entries close are recorded with the time they happened, and shown to the organizer and the judges. That covers edits to the game's components, custom masks, game details and image files. The organizer reviews them.

The entered copy keeps its own layout and card details, so most edits do not reach it at all. Two edits do: re-uploading an image under the same file name, and editing a custom mask the table uses.

Tip

If you need to fix something after entries close, let the organizer know why. They see your changes either way, and a short note makes their review easy.

Publisher contact

If you ticked Publishers may contact me about this game, any account in publisher mode can start a conversation with you about the game. It appears in My Pitches, and you get an email for each new one. Replying does not commit you to anything.

You can switch this on or off at any time from your entry page with Allow publisher contact or Turn off publisher contact.

Withdrawing

Click Withdraw entry on your entry page at any time before the results are published. A withdrawn entry leaves the competition and can no longer be played from it. If entries are still open you can enter again.

If your game becomes unavailable

If you delete the project behind an entry, the entry can no longer be played, and it drops out of judging. The competition page says so rather than showing a broken game.

Results and judge feedback

When the results are published you get an email. Any feedback the judges wrote for your game appears on your entry page under Feedback from the judges. Judges are not named, and their private notes are never shown.
