Custom Masks
Custom Mask system for cards and tokens New
Make a card or token any shape you want. Build your own masks in the new Mask Editor, or start from a built-in shape, and they apply anywhere that component shows up. Fully compatible with Dextrous masks too.
This was a massive update, so let me know in the bug tool or discord if you run into any issues!
Access the new masks from Tools -> Mask Editor
Hover glow shows what your hotkeys will act on Improved
Hovering a component now lights it up with a selection glow, so it's always clear which object your keyboard shortcuts will affect.
Minimap refresh Improved
The minimap and zoom controls got a cleaner, more compact layout that works better on both desktop and mobile.
Playing from your hand on touch Fixed
Touch controls for playing objects out of your hand are smoother and more reliable. Cards no longer play early, and they now commit only when you lift your finger.
Performance Improved
A round of performance fixes for a smoother tabletop.
Guided Tour & QoL changes
Guided Tour New
A new interactive tour walks new players and testers around the playtest room, and first-timers get it automatically the first time they join.
Action Items Revamp Improved
A big overhaul plus a quality-of-life pass. Edit action items, add and edit them straight from the project page, and check one off without the page reloading. More coming in the future.
Dashboard Polish Improved
A round of improvements and polish across the dashboard.
Preview Orientation Improved
Quality-of-life changes to how previews and peeks are oriented, with a new player option to switch back to the old style.
Smoother Panning Improved
Performance work for higher frame rates when panning around rooms with a lot of objects.
Drag While Panning Improved
When you drag objects and move the camera at the same time, the held objects now follow the camera and your cursor.
Import Fix Fixed
Fixed an edge case when importing from The Game Crafter where images were not always internalized correctly.
Deck, Stack Builder & Layer System
Deck & Stack Builder New
Build real decks and token stacks right from your components. Group any cards into a deck or any tokens into a stack, name them, and drag the whole group onto the table as a ready-to-play pile. A card or token can belong to multiple decks/stacks, and decks/stacks stay uniform (same shape/mask) so they always shuffle, flip, and stack cleanly in the playtest room.
Layering System New
Hosts can now define ordered render layers for the tabletop. Assign objects to layers to control exactly what sits above what. A lower layer never renders on top of a higher one, so boards, cards, tokens, and overlays always stack in the order you intend.
Consistent Enter / Esc in Popups Improved
Every popup and dialog now behaves the same way: press Esc to cancel or close, and Enter to confirm. No more guessing which keys work where.
Sharper Tabletop After Moving the Camera Improved
Added a resolution-sharpening pass to the playtest room so the table re-sharpens after you pan or zoom, no more lingering blur once your camera settles.
In-Room Help Expanded Improved
Full re-work of the in-game playest help modal. It's a great place to start for new users!
Trade Cards Between Hands
Request & Give Cards Between Hands
Move cards and tokens directly between players' hands. Every transfer asks the owner first, so nothing leaves a hand without their okay. Requests and gives are both run from the player panel — click a player in the players list or open their seat menu.
- Request random cards: Click Request, pick a number, choose Random. Their game randomly hands over that many on accept. No need to see their hand.
- Request cards they pick: Choose "They pick" and the owner selects which cards to give, or denies.
- Request a specific card: When you can see a hand (open-hands rooms, or as host), open the Hand Viewer, hover the exact card, and click Request.
- Give cards: Click Give to open a picker of your own hand — select the cards to hand over, or type a number and click Random to give that many at random.
- Preview before you commit: every card picker has a magnifier to open the full-size preview, so you always know what you're giving or choosing.
Incoming requests and gifts pop up an Accept / Deny prompt.
Auto-accept Requests Improved
Turn on Auto-accept requests in the hand options bar to instantly fulfill incoming random and specific requests without a popup — handy for co-op and teaching. "They pick" requests still ask you to choose. An ON badge shows while it's active.
Show/Hide Player Bars New
A new "Show player bars" toggle in the players panel lets you hide the floating player seat bars on the table for a cleaner view. It's a personal setting, defaults to on, and is remembered between sessions.
Playtest Room - Player List & Voice Chat Update
A full UI/UX pass on the in-room player list and voice chat, plus camera view presets and new table textures. Improved
Player Panel Reworked:
The floating player list has been redesigned into clean, floating avatars along the top of the table, no more cramped cards.
Click your own portrait to:
- Set your status — Ready, Away, or Busy
- Hide all player avatars (shows initials instead) — handy for screenshots or to cut distractions
Click another player's portrait to:
- Jump to View — snap your camera to wherever they're currently looking
- Ping their View — flag the spot on the table they're focused on
- React with emojis — pop reactions on their avatar (perfect for celebrating that critical fail roll of 1 😂😂😂 👍)
- Kick / Ban (host only) — remove a player and keep them out for the rest of the session
Voice Chat
- Push-to-Talk — hold to talk, default ` and fully re-bindable in your hotkey settings
- Device picker — choose your microphone (input) and speakers (output)
- Mute / Deafen — mute your mic or silence the whole room
- Speaking indicator — see at a glance who's talking
Camera View Presets New
Save and recall camera positions on the fly.
- Shift + 1–9 — save your current view (pan, zoom, and seat rotation) to a slot
- 1–9 — jump to a saved view
- A host's saved views are stored with the setup, so they load for everyone the next time it's opened. Other players can save their own personal views on top for their session.
- Hosts get a Camera Views manager to see, overwrite, and clear slots. All keys are re-bindable.
Table Textures
- New tileable surface textures (felt, wood, and more) layered over your table color.
- When saving a setup, the current table color and texture will be saved and when they join a room with your setup, that color and texture will be set for them.

Publisher Pitch Update
Publishers & Pitching
Connect with publishers and let them play your game. Designer Den now has a full publisher directory and pitch system, so you can take a game from prototype all the way to a publisher's desk without leaving the app.
For designers:
- Browse the publisher directory and filter by genre, player count, and complexity so you only see publishers that fit. DDD-Verified publishers show first.
- Pitch in a few minutes — pick your DDD game and the pitch form auto-fills from your project (title, description, genre, player count). Add a pitch deck, sell sheet, or screenshots.
- Let them actually play it — attach a saved table setup and the publisher can launch your game in a private playtest room in one click. No files to send, and your project stays private.
- Track everything in the new My Pitches area, which shows each pitch's status and keeps your whole conversation with the publisher in one place.
- Pitch more than one game to the same publisher (a different game each time).
For publishers:
- Become a publisher for free — a one-click add-on to your existing account (you keep all your designer tools), and you can turn it off any time.
- Build a profile that shows off your brand — custom page URL, cover image, logo, bio, and the genres, player counts, and complexity you're looking for.
- Control your visibility with separate switches for being listed in the directory and accepting pitches, so you can open and close submissions on your terms.
- Use a real inbox — review pitches, set a status (Under Review, Interested, Needs More Info, and more), message designers, and load any attached setup to test the game yourself.
- Customize your pitch form by adding your own questions to collect exactly what you need.
Your designer profile:
- Every account can now set up a public designer profile: a profile picture, tagline, bio, a custom URL, and a banner color of your choice.
- Your profile showcases your public table setups with one-click Play, so anyone can pick up your games.
- Private by default — publish it when you're ready.
Other improvements and fixes:
- New Help Center articles covering publishers, pitching, and your designer profile.
- Action confirmations now appear as clean toast notifications, and the sign-in and registration pages got a fresh look.
- New Peek hotkey (P) — quickly look at the face-down side of a component without flipping it for everyone. While you're peeking, a large eye icon appears so other players know you're looking, and the action is recorded in the action log.
- Fixed some physical sizing and scaling inconsistencies with the children of decks and stacks.
- Added a Dextrous quick re-sync button on the Project listing page for projects that have Dextrous set up.
- Added a confirmation modal to the The Game Crafter (TGC) import process.
Board Grids!
Help Pages Improved
- Overhauled the Help Wiki system to make it easier to read, update, and maintain.
Board Grid New
- Added support for Square and Hex grids on board components.
- Board components now support the same grid snapping features available on the table.
- Added grid color selection for both Table and Board grids.
- Added support for Cell and Intersection snapping on both Table and Board grids.
General Fixes Improved
- Generic components added to the table, but not yet added to the project, can now be fully edited.
- Fixed visual issues with tokens that have images assigned. Fixed
- Restricted certain component editing options for non-host users, including color, size, and related settings.

- Component add/edit field pass to establish a better workflow with more needed basic settings in the first tab to speed up component creation processes.
- Welcome page overhaul.
- /play page now shows open public rooms.
- Fixed hotkeys 1-9 not working to draw from a deck or stack or back.
- When importing from The Game Crafter, it will automatically internalize the images under DDD's domain and your file space to make sure they are rendered correctly in playtest rooms.
- Anyone who hosts a room and has a logged in account can make the room Public now instead of Pro only.
- Public rooms is a new tab on /play. Use this to find designers or players looking for more people.
- Voice Chat is no longer locked behind the Pro tier.
Replay Update
Project Replays Improved
- Polish pass on the Replay system, you'll notice it's working more accurately.
- You can now generate snapshots from a replay AT ANY MOMENT! Just hit the (Save this moment) button during a replay.
- Access these Snapshots from the replay viewer or all Snapshots in the new Snapshots tab of the re-vamped Project Playtesting card.
- Playtesting card now has 4 tabs, Playtest Sessions, Replays, Snapshots and Analytics.
