Spectators

Spectators watch your table without joining it. Use it to stream a playtest, put a demo on a screen at a convention, or let someone follow along without taking a seat.

Turning It On (Pro)

In your room, open Room Options and tick Allow spectators under Saving & sharing. It works when the account that owns the project is on Pro.

Like every room option, it is saved with the table setup, so rooms opened from that setup allow spectators too.

Watching

When spectators are allowed:

  • The join screen shows Watch as a spectator under Join Game.
  • On the Play page, a public room shows Watch beside Join Room, and so does a live room on the game's game page.
  • A scheduled playtest that is live shows Watch as a spectator on its page to anyone without a seat.

Spectators do not take a seat, so they never count toward the room's player limit. A spectator who wants to play can click Join instead in the banner at the top.

What Spectators See

Spectators see the table as it is played: every move, flip, draw and deal, a moment after it happens. They drag to pan, scroll to zoom, and read the action log. They do not see cursors or pieces mid-drag, or any player's hand.

Nothing a spectator does reaches the table. Their toolbar keeps only the notepad, for notes of their own, and Report a Bug; the player tools are not there.

What Players See

While spectators are allowed, the players list shows how many people are watching right now. While anyone is watching, an eye with that number also sits beside the online count in the top bar.

If you turn Allow spectators off, anyone watching is told the table is no longer open to spectators and is taken out.
